Channing Matthew Tatum is an American actor. Tatum made his film debut in the drama Coach Carter, and had his breakthrough role in the 2006 dance film Step Up.
Channing Matthew Tatum was born on April 26, 1980 in Cullman, Alabama. He is an American actor, producer and dancer. His father, Glenn Tatum, worked in construction while his mother, Kay Tatum (née Faust), was a nurse. He has two older sisters named Paige and Rachel. His ancestry includes English and Irish descent.
Tatum began his career as a dancer with Ricky Martin's "She Bangs" music video in 2000 and then went on to gain fame as a model after appearing in the 2001 music video for Brian McKnight's "Show Me The Way Back To Your Heart". He made his film debut in Coach Carter (2005) and then starred in several commercially successful films such as Step Up (2006). He went on to star in various other films such as G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009), Dear John (2010) and Magic Mike (2012). In 2013 he starred in White House Down and Foxcatcher (2014). In 2016 he starred in Hail, Caesar! And The Hateful Eight.
He has also produced several films such as 21 Jump Street (2012) and its sequel 22 Jump Street (2014). In addition to acting, he co-founded Iron Horse Entertainment, a production company which focuses on creating content for television and digital media outlets.
