Anna Cooke Kendrick is an American actress and singer. She has received various accolades, including nominations for an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award and a Tony Award. Kendrick began her career performing in theater productions at a young age.
Anna Kendrick was born on August 9th, 1985 in Portland, Maine. Her mother, Janice (née Cooke), is an accountant, and her father, William Kendrick, is a teacher. She has two older brothers. Anna attended Deering High School in Portland before moving to New York City to pursue her acting career.
Kendrick began her career as a child actor on Broadway, appearing in productions such as “High Society” and “A Little Night Music”. In 2003, she made her film debut in the musical comedy “Camp” and later appeared in films such as “Rocket Science” (2007) and “Twilight” (2008). In 2009, she starred in the hit romantic comedy “Up in the Air” for which she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
In 2010, Kendrick starred alongside George Clooney in the drama “The Company Men” and later appeared in the ensemble comedies “What to Expect When You're Expecting” (2012) and “Pitch Perfect” (2012). She reprised her role as Beca Mitchell in the sequels “Pitch Perfect 2” (2015) and “Pitch Perfect 3” (2017). Other notable film credits include roles in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010), End of Watch (2012), Into the Woods (2014) and Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates (2016).
Kendrick has also enjoyed success on television. She won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress for her recurring role on NBC's musical dramedy series "Smash" from 2012-2013. She has also appeared in various other television projects such as "Bunheads" from 2012-2013 and Netflix's anthology series "Love Life" from 2020-present.
