About

Bruce Lee was born on November 27, 1940, in San Francisco, California. His mother, Grace Ho, was a Chinese opera singer from Hong Kong and his father, Lee Hoi Chuen, was a Cantonese opera star. He had two siblings—a brother named Robert and a sister named Phoebe. Bruce's parents moved to the United States when he was only three months old.

Lee began martial arts training at the age of six under the tutelage of his father and later with master Yip Man in Hong Kong. At 13 years old, he won his first fight against another student; by 18 he became a professional instructor at the Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute in Seattle. He also studied Jeet Kune Do (JKD), which would become his signature martial art style.

In 1959, Lee moved back to Hong Kong to pursue an acting career. He made his film debut in The Big Boss (1971) and went on to star in several other films such as Fist of Fury (1972) and Way of the Dragon (1972). His most notable role was in Enter the Dragon (1973). Lee is widely regarded as one of the greatest martial artists ever and is credited for introducing Asian martial arts to American audiences through his movies and television appearances.

Lee passed away suddenly on July 20th 1973 due to a mysterious cerebral edema. Though his life ended tragically at just 32 years old, Bruce Lee left behind a legacy that continues to inspire martial artists around the world.
