Bryan Guy Adams OC OBC FRPS is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter, composer, and photographer. He has been cited as one of the best-selling music artists of all time, and is estimated to have sold between 75 million and more than 100 million records and singles worldwide.
Bryan Adams was born on November 5, 1959, in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. His zodiac sign is Scorpio and his ethnicity is Caucasian. He is the only child of English parents Elizabeth Jane and Captain Conrad J. Adams. He grew up in a middle-class family and had musical influences from an early age. Bryan's father was a diplomat with the Canadian Foreign Service and he traveled to various countries around the world during Bryan's childhood, exposing him to different cultures and music styles.
At the age of 15, Bryan started playing guitar which eventually led to him joining a local band called Shock at 17 years old. After two years of performing locally, Bryan signed a record deal with A&M Records in 1978 and released his debut album titled "Bryan Adams" the same year. The album featured the hit single "Let Me Take You Dancing" which became an instant success and helped Bryan gain national recognition within Canada.
In 1983, Bryan released his third studio album entitled "Cuts Like a Knife" which featured three top 20 singles in North America: "Straight from the Heart," "This Time," and "Cuts Like a Knife." Following its success, he went on to release four more albums between 1984-1993 that would produce some of his most successful songs including "Run To You," "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You," and "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?" All of these singles were certified platinum or higher by either RIAA or BPI.
Throughout his career, Bryan has won numerous awards including 18 Juno Awards (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy Awards), 1 American Music Award, 12 SOCAN Awards (given to songwriters), 3 MTV Video Music Awards, 1 ASCAP Pop Music Award (for songwriting), 2 Ivor Novello Awards (given by British Academy of Songwriters) as well as many others. He also holds several Guinness World Records such as most consecutive weeks at number one on UK Singles Chart for "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You".
