Chad Robert Kroeger is a Canadian musician who is the lead singer and guitarist of the rock band Nickelback. In addition to his work with Nickelback, Kroeger has been involved with a variety of collaborations, appearing as a guest musician in several songs and has contributed in both production and songwriting.
Chad Robert Kroeger was born on November 15, 1974 in Hanna, Alberta, Canada. He is a Canadian singer-songwriter and the lead vocalist of the rock band Nickelback. Kroeger attended Royal Alexandra Elementary School and then Wm. E. Hay Secondary School in Stettler, Alberta, where he formed his first band called Village Idiot with his older brother Mike and cousin Brandon. Kroeger moved to Vancouver at the age of 18 and started working as a waiter while playing in local bands such as The Grapes of Wrath and The New Town Animals.
In 2001, Kroeger signed with Roadrunner Records and co-founded Nickelback with Ryan Peake, Mike Kroeger, and Ryan Vikedal. Their first album Silver Side Up went multi-platinum and featured the hit single "How You Remind Me" which won a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance. Nickelback has since gone on to win additional awards including multiple MTV Video Music Awards, American Music Awards, People's Choice Awards, Juno Awards, and World Music Awards.
In addition to his work with Nickelback, Kroeger has collaborated with several other artists including Avril Lavigne (with whom he is married), Santana, Timbaland, Chris Daughtry and many more. He also wrote songs for several movies such as Spiderman 2 (2004) and The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas (2000). His solo album entitled "Dark Horse" was released in November 2008 and included singles like "Hero", "I'd Come For You", "Far Away", "Never Gonna Be Alone".
