Casper, born Benjamin Griffey on August 23, 1982 in Halle, Germany, is a German rapper and songwriter. He attended the University of Paderborn, where he studied musicology and philosophy. After graduation, Casper began his career as a rapper in 2005 with the release of his debut album “Hinterland”. The album received critical acclaim and established him as one of the most important figures in German hip-hop. Following the success of “Hinterland”, Casper released two more albums “XOXO” (2007) and “Hinterland II” (2009). In 2012, he released his fourth studio album “Hinterland III” which was certified gold in Germany.

In 2013, Casper released his fifth studio album “Hinterland IV” which was once again a commercial success. His sixth studio album “Himmel und Hölle” (2015) became his highest-charting solo effort to date, reaching number one on the German Albums Chart. Since then, he has released several other successful albums including “Kreuzberg (2017) and Zwei Herzen (2019). He has also collaborated with various other artists including Marteria and Kontra K.

Casper is considered one of the most successful German rappers ever, with awards such as 3 Echos for Best Hip Hop Act twice in 2011 and 2017 and an MTV Europe Music Award for Best German Act in 2016.
