Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. (born September 27, 1982), known professionally as Lil Wayne, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record executive. His career began in 1995, at the age of 12, when he was signed by rapper Birdman, joining Cash Money Records as the youngest member of the label.

Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., better known by his stage name Lil Wayne, was born on September 27th, 1982 in New Orleans, Louisiana. His zodiac sign is Libra and his ethnicity is African-American and Native American. He is the son of Dwayne Michael Turner Sr. and Jacida Carter and he has three siblings. 

Lil Wayne began rapping at the age of eight after being influenced by his father and older brother who both were rappers. He joined Cash Money Records as the youngest member of the label when he was only nine years old. By 11, he had recorded debut album "Tha Block Is Hot" which gained him recognition in the rap music industry. In 2004, he released the highly successful album "Tha Carter". This album spawned several hit singles such as "Go DJ" and "Lollipop", which earned him a Grammy Award for Best Rap Song in 2008. 

In 2009, Lil Wayne released his sixth studio album called "Rebirth". The album was met with mixed reviews but still managed to sell over 2 million copies worldwide. In 2011, he released his ninth studio album called "Tha Carter IV" which became one of the biggest albums of that year with over 1 million copies sold in its first week alone. Its lead single "6 Foot 7 Foot" became an instant hit, reaching number 1 on the Billboard 100 chart.

Throughout his career Lil Wayne has won four Grammys and countless other awards for his contribution to rap music. He has also featured on numerous songs including Drake's "Miss Me", Nicki Minaj's "High School", Eminem's "No Love", Kanye West's "All of the Lights" and many more. He is considered one of the greatest rappers of all time and continues to make music today.
