Charlotte Emma Aitchison, known professionally as Charli XCX, is an English singer and songwriter. Born in Cambridge and raised in Start Hill, Essex, she began posting songs on Myspace in 2008, which led to her discovery by a promoter who invited her to perform at warehouse raves.
Charli XCX, born Charlotte Emma Aitchison on August 2, 1992 in Cambridge, England, is a British pop singer-songwriter and producer. She began writing songs at the age of 14 and released her first single, “!Franchesckaar!”, at age 15. Charli's debut album was released in 2013 titled True Romance. The album spawned hits such as "You (Ha Ha Ha)" and "Nuclear Seasons". Her follow-up album Sucker was released in 2014 and it produced the hit singles "Boom Clap" and "Break the Rules".
In 2016, Charli XCX released her third studio album Vroom Vroom EP which features production from SOPHIE and A.G. Cook of PC Music. In 2017, Charli XCX released two mixtapes titled Number 1 Angel and Pop 2. Both these projects featured contributions from stars such as CupcakKe, Carly Rae Jepsen, MØ, Tove Lo and more. In 2018 she released her fourth studio album called Charli which featured collaborations with Christine & The Queens and Troye Sivan among others. That same year she also embarked on a tour called 'Charli LIVE' throughout Europe and the US to promote the album.
In 2020 Charli XCX released her fifth studio album How I'm Feeling Now featuring collaborations with Grimes and Yaeji among others. This project was written entirely during quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It saw Charli take a new direction with her music going for a more experimental sound than previous releases. Currently she is working on new material for 2021 while also continuing to perform live shows online during lockdown restrictions.
