Chris Brown was born on May 5, 1989, in Tappahannock, Virginia. His zodiac sign is Taurus and his ethnicity is African-American. He is the son of Joyce Hawkins and Clinton Brown, and he has two younger sisters. Brown grew up singing in his church choir and listening to soul artists such as Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson.

At an early age, Brown showed a great aptitude for music, learning to play the piano at age seven. In 2004, at age 15, he released his self-titled debut album which spawned a string of Billboard hits including “Run It!” and “Yo (Excuse Me Miss).” The following year he won a Grammy for Best R&B Contemporary Album. In 2007, he released his second studio album Exclusive which featured the hit single “Kiss Kiss” featuring T-Pain; it went on to become certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

In 2009, Brown's third studio album Graffiti reached number 7 on the Billboard 200 chart; it featured collaborations with Lil Wayne, Keri Hilson and Justin Bieber. In 2012 he released Fortune which spawned several singles including “Turn Up the Music” and “Don't Wake Me Up” both of which reached number one on the US Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart.

Brown has also ventured into film and television appearing in films such as Stomp The Yard (2007), Takers (2010) and Think Like A Man Too (2014). He has also appeared as a guest judge on Fox's The X Factor in 2011.

He made headlines when he was arrested for assaulting then girlfriend Rihanna in February 2009; since then he has had several run ins with law enforcement but has yet to be convicted of any major charges.
