Diego Dionisio Luna Alexander is a Mexican actor, director, and producer. He is known for his portrayal of Cassian Andor in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the Disney+ series Andor. Following an early career in Mexican telenovelas, he had his breakthrough in the critically acclaimed 2001 film Y tu mamá también.

Diego Luna Alexander was born on December 29, 1979, in Mexico City, Mexico. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Alejandro Luna, who is a famous painter. Diego studied acting at the CEA (Centro de Educación Artística) in Televisa, which eventually led him to become an actor.

Luna's career began in telenovelas like El Abuelo y Yo and El Premio Mayor in 1995. In 1998, he made his feature film debut in Bésame Tonto. After that performance, Luna starred in Y tu Mamá También as Tenoch Iturbide alongside Gael García Bernal; this performance earned him international recognition and awards including the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the Berlin International Film Festival. 

In 2003, he was cast as Fermín Morales in the American movie Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. His other films include The Terminal with Tom Hanks and Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia. Luna also branched out into directing in 2009 when he wrote and directed Abel starring Mexican actor José María Yazpik. In 2011, he directed Miss Bala and once again collaborated with Gael García Bernal for Rudo y Cursi and Casa de Mi Padre where he played Armando Alvarez opposite Will Ferrell. 

Luna has appeared most recently in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as Captain Cassian Andor as well as Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico as Felix Gallardo in 2018. He will be featured in two upcoming films: The Book of Life directed by Jorge R Gutierrez and Wasp Network directed by Olivier Assayas alongside Penelope Cruz and Gael Garcia Bernal.
