Edward Parker Helms is an American actor and comedian. From 2002 to 2006, he was a correspondent on Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He played paper salesman Andy Bernard in the NBC sitcom The Office, and starred as Stuart Price in The Hangover trilogy.
Edward Parker Helms was born on January 24, 1974, in Atlanta, Georgia. He is an American actor, comedian, and singer. Helms grew up in a Southern Baptist family in the suburbs of Atlanta and attended The Westminster Schools. After graduating from Oberlin College in Ohio with a degree in geography and geology, he moved to New York City to pursue a career in comedy.
Helms started his career as an intern at the Late Show with David Letterman before joining the cast of NBC's Saturday Night Live for four years. After leaving SNL, he starred in various feature films such as The Hangover trilogy and The Office. Other projects include voicing characters for animated films such as Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie and Sing. He has also appeared on TV shows like 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation.
In 2010, Helms won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Andy Bernard on The Office. In 2013, he hosted the MTV Movie Awards and the ESPYs that same year. In 2018, he starred alongside Edie Falco in the Netflix series Dave, which earned him another Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
Helms is currently working on several projects including Vacation Friends with Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader, which is set to be released later this year.
