About

Faith Renée Evans was born on June 10, 1973 in Lakeland, Florida and raised in Newark, New Jersey. She is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress. Her mother, Helen Evans, was a professional singer who often took Faith to live shows to perform. Faith's father abandoned the family when she was very young; her mother then quickly remarried and the family relocated to Newark.

At age 12, Faith became part of a female singing group called "Sugar Hill" which toured with the likes of Big Daddy Kane and Salt N' Pepa. In 1993, she met Sean Combs (aka Puff Daddy) at a Bad Boy Records photo shoot and he quickly signed her as one of his first artists on his label. She soon released her debut album 'Keep The Faith' in 1994 which spawned hits such as “You Used to Love Me” and “Soon As I Get Home”. The album earned her several awards including two Soul Train Music Awards for Best R&B/Soul Album, Female and Best R&B/Soul Single for “You Used To Love Me”.

In 1998, Faith released her double platinum album 'Keep the Faith', which included the hit single "Love Like This". Later that same year, she married rapper Notorious B.I.G., whom she had been dating since 1994. In 2001, she released another critically acclaimed album 'Faithfully', which featured songs like "Burnin' Up" and "I Love You". Her most recent release was in 2017 with her eighth studio album 'The King & I'.

Throughout her career, she has collaborated with numerous artists including Missy Elliott ("Burnin' Up"), Whitney Houston ("Heartbreak Hotel"), Snoop Dogg ("Way You Move"), Ja Rule ("Always On Time") and Monica ("Finally"). In 2018, she was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall Of Fame for her contributions to music over the past two decades.
