Joseph Antonio Cartagena, professionally known as Fat Joe, was born on August 19, 1970 in the Bronx, New York. His zodiac sign is Leo and his ethnicity is Puerto Rican and Cuban. He is the son of Ernesto Delgado and Anna Cartagena, who were both from Cuba. As a youth, he was fascinated with hip-hop culture and started rapping at the age of nine.

Fat Joe attended South Bronx High School where he met his future rap partner D.I.T.C., which stands for "Diggin' In The Crates". After dropping out of high school, Fat Joe joined forces with D.I.T.C., which included Diamond D, Lord Finesse and Showbiz & A.G., to form their own rap group called Diggin' In The Crates Crew (D.I.T.C.).

In 1993, Fat Joe released his debut studio album Represent, which featured the single "Flow Joe", which peaked at #1 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart later that year. Since then he has released nine more albums including Jealous One's Envy (1995), Don Cartagena (1998), Jealous Ones Still Envy (J O S E) (2001), Loyalty (2002), All or Nothing (2005), Me Myself & I (2006), The Elephant in the Room (2008), Jealous Ones Still Envy 2 (2009) and The Darkside Vol 1 (2010). He has also collaborated with many well-known artists such as Big Punisher, Remy Ma, Jennifer Lopez and Ja Rule amongst others and has been nominated for several Grammy Awards throughout his career.
