Grace Kelly was born on November 12, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Jack B. and Margaret Katherine Majer Kelly and had three siblings. Her father was a self-made millionaire who owned an industrial construction company and her mother was a physical education teacher who ran a dance school.

Kelly began taking acting classes at the age of 12 and appeared in many amateur theater productions throughout high school. After graduating from Stevens School in Germantown, Pennsylvania, she enrolled at Bennington College in Vermont where she majored in drama and art history.

In 1951, Kelly made her professional stage debut in New York City with the theatrical production “A Voice of the Turtle”. Later that same year, she made her television debut in “Four Star Playhouse” alongside Ida Lupino. In 1952, she landed her first movie role in Fourteen Hours playing opposite Paul Douglas. Kelly continued to appear in films for the next few years and received critical acclaim for her performances in Dial M for Murder (1954) and The Country Girl (1954). In 1955, she won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in The Country Girl. 

Throughout her career, Kelly starred in numerous films including High Society (1956), Rear Window (1954), Mogambo (1953), To Catch a Thief (1955) and High Noon (1952). She also appeared on television shows such as The Bob Hope Show (1960) and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour (1963). 

In 1956, Kelly retired from acting after marrying Prince Rainier III of Monaco and becoming Princess Grace of Monaco. She died tragically on September 14th 1982 after suffering a stroke while driving near Monaco's border with France.
