Lil Durk is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter born on October 19, 1992. He was raised in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Durk started rapping when he was just a teenager and joined Chief Keef's Glo Gang collective in 2011. In 2012, he released his first mixtape, I'm a Hitta. The mixtape featured the single "Sneak Dissin" which became popular in Chicago's underground rap scene.

In 2013, Durk signed with Def Jam Recordings and released his second mixtape Signed to the Streets . The project went on to be certified gold by the RIAA and spawned the hit single "Dis Ain't What U Want". Later that year, Durk released his third mixtape Life Ain't No Joke which featured guest appearances from Wiz Khalifa, French Montana and Meek Mill among others. The mixtape received critical acclaim and was credited as one of the best projects to come out of Chicago at the time.

In 2015, Durk released his fourth album Remember My Name which debuted at number 12 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album featured collaborations with Jeremih, Dej Loaf, Future and Ty Dolla Sign among others and was well received by critics. Since then he has gone on to release several more albums including Love Songs 4 the Streets 2 (2019), Just Cause Y'all Waited 2 (2020) and The Voice (2021). Lil Durk has been praised for his story telling ability as well as his melodic flow which has earned him a large fan base over the years.
