Robin Alan Thicke is an American singer, songwriter and record producer. He is best known for his 2013 hit single "Blurred Lines", which is one of the best-selling singles of all time. At the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, he received nominations for Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Robin Charles Thicke was born on March 10, 1977 in Los Angeles, California. His parents are Alan Thicke (an actor/songwriter) and Gloria Loring (an actress/singer). He has an older brother named Brennan and a younger half-brother named Carter. Thicke began his singing career at the age of 14 when he was signed to Interscope Records.
In 2003 he released his debut album titled "A Beautiful World" which spawned two hit singles "When I Get You Alone" and "Wanna Love You Girl". The album went platinum in the United States and Canada. His follow up album, "The Evolution of Robin Thicke," was released in 2006 and featured the smash hit single "Lost Without U." This single won him a Grammy nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance as well as multiple other awards.
Thicke's third album, "Something Else," was released in 2008 and featured the hit singles "Magic" and "Sex Therapy." He followed this success with the release of his fourth album, "Love After War," in 2011 which included popular songs such as "Pretty Lil' Heart" and "All Tied Up." In 2013, he released his fifth studio album titled "Blurred Lines" which contained the title track that became one of the biggest hits of all time. The song also won him another Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Thicke has gone on to release several more albums over the years including his most recent effort titled "On Earth, And In Heaven" in 2020. He has also had numerous guest appearances on television shows such as American Dad!, CSI: Miami, The Voice, and How I Met Your Mother. Additionally, he is a judge on Fox's singing competition show The Masked Singer since its inception in 2019.
