Rod Stewart was born in Highgate, London on January 10, 1945. His zodiac sign is Capricorn and his ethnicity is Scottish-English. Rod is the youngest of five children born to Robert Stewart and Elsie Gilbart. His father had a successful career as a professional soccer player, and his mother was an active member of the Church of England.

Rod's musical career began at age 15 when he dropped out of school and joined the British band The Dimensions as lead singer. In 1964, he became the vocalist for The Jeff Beck Group, eventually leaving in 1969 to pursue a solo career. He released his debut solo album An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down in 1970 which established him as one of the premier rock singers of the decade. He followed up with Every Picture Tells A Story in 1971 which contained his famous hit single “Maggie May” as well as “You Wear It Well” which also became popular.

In 1975, Rod signed with Warner Bros., releasing Atlantic Crossing which reached number one on both sides of the Atlantic and contained hits such as “Sailing” and “I Don't Want To Talk About It”. During this time, he also released live albums such as Live! Coast to Coast (1977) and Blondes Have More Fun (1978). In 1979, Rod released Foolish Behaviour which featured another UK chart topping single “Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?” 

Throughout the 1980s, Rod continued to have success with singles like “Young Turks” (1981) and “Infatuation” (1984). He also released two more rock albums in this decade with Tonight I'm Yours (1981) and Camouflage (1984). In 1988, Rod embarked on a tour that marked one of his greatest successes when it sold over 3 million tickets worldwide. 

In 1993, Rod released Unplugged…and Seated which won him two Grammy Awards for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Male Artist and Best Traditional Pop Vocal Performance. Since then he has released several other studio albums such as Human (2001), Still The Same… Great Rock Classics Of Our Time (2006), Soulbook (2009), Fly Me To The Moon …The Great American Songbook Volume V (2010), Time (2013), Another Country (2015), Blood Red Roses (2018)  as well as various compilations and live albums. He has received multiple awards throughout his career including induction into both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and the UK Music Hall Of Fame in 2006.
