Pippen played basketball in high school at Hamburg High School and was named All-State his senior year. After high school he attended University of Central Arkansas but transferred to University of Arkansas after two years.

At the University of Arkansas, Pippen became a standout player for the Razorbacks and helped them reach the Sweet 16 in the 1989 NCAA tournament. He then declared for the 1987 NBA draft and was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics as the fifth overall pick. He was immediately traded to the Chicago Bulls for Olden Polynice and future draft picks which would prove to be one of the best trades ever made in sports history.

Throughout his career Scottie Pippen has been named to seven all-star teams, eight All-NBA Teams, seven All-Defensive Teams, won six NBA Championships (1991-93; 1996-98) and was named one of fifty greatest players in NBA History in 1996.
