Kevin Wayne Durant (/dəˈrænt/ də-RANT; born September 29, 1988), also known by his initials KD, is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Kevin Wayne Durant was born on September 29, 1988, in Washington D.C. His zodiac sign is Libra and his ethnicity is African-American. He is the son of Wanda Durant and Wayne Pratt. Durant has two siblings: Tony, who is three years older than him, and Rayvonne, who is five years younger than him. He grew up in Seat Pleasant, Maryland.
Durant began playing organized basketball at the age of nine for a recreational league in Prince George's County. At the age of 13 he was selected to play for Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) teams which traveled around the country to compete with other teams from different cities. After playing for multiple AAU teams he eventually ended up playing for one of the most prominent AAU teams at the time, called Team Texas Pro Sports. During his high school career he became one of the top prospects in his class and was named Player of the Year by numerous publications such as USA Today and Parade Magazine.
Durant was highly recruited out of high school and eventually chose to attend The University of Texas at Austin where he played college basketball for one season before entering the 2007 NBA Draft as a freshman. In his rookie year he won Rookie of the Year award and set an array of records along with being named to numerous All Star games during his tenure with the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2008-2016. On July 4th 2016, Durant announced that he would be signing with the Golden State Warriors in free agency and went on to win two championships with them in 2017 and 2018 while also becoming Finals MVP twice in those years respectively.
