She quickly gained attention for her beauty and became one of the most popular actresses during the 1940s and 1950s. She also had relationships with some of Hollywood's most famous men, such as Frank Sinatra and Howard Hughes.

In 1964, she retired from film after appearing in 'Seven Days In May' but would go on to appear in television shows such as 'Fantasy Island' and 'Kojak'. She continued to live an active lifestyle until her death due to pneumonia at age 67 on January 25th, 1990.
