About

Axl Rose was born William Bruce Rose Jr. on February 6, 1962, in Lafayette, Indiana. He is an American singer-songwriter and musician who is the lead vocalist of the rock band Guns N' Roses. He has also been a member of Hollywood Rose, L.A. Guns, Rapidfire and AC/DC.

Rose grew up with his father, William Rose Sr., who had a drinking problem and would often be physically abusive toward him and his mother Sharon Elizabeth Lintner. His parents divorced when he was two years old and he had to move frequently throughout his childhood as a result of his mother's career moves.

Rose started playing music at an early age and he attended high school in Los Angeles before dropping out at age 17 to pursue a career in music full-time. He joined the band Hollywood Rose in 1983 and then formed Guns N' Roses with members of that band and L.A. Guns the following year. The band signed with Geffen Records in 1986 and released its debut album Appetite for Destruction in 1987, which was an international success, selling more than 30 million copies worldwide.

Guns N' Roses became one of the most successful rock bands of all time during their heyday, releasing six studio albums including Use Your Illusion I & II (1991), "The Spaghetti Incident?" (1993) and Chinese Democracy (2008). The band has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling musical acts of all time. Rose is also known for his onstage antics like singing from the rafters or traveling across the arena while singing a song; these theatrics have become part of his signature style as a performer.

In 2016, Axl Rose was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside other members of Guns N' Roses. He continues to perform with the band today and they are currently on tour throughout North America, Europe, South America and Australia until November 2019.
