Bones (born May 13, 1992), is an American rapper from Detroit, Michigan. He started rapping at the age of twelve and released his first mixtape, Unfriendly Takeover, in 2011. Since then, he has released four solo albums and numerous EPs and mixtapes. He is known for his eclectic sound, which combines elements of trap and punk with classic hip-hop production.
Bones began releasing music on YouTube under the moniker "Tha Ghost" in 2009 before changing his name to Bones in 2010. He gained traction on the online platform with his song “Fools Gold” in 2012. In 2013, he released his debut album, The Diabolical B-Boy Chronicles Vol. 1, which featured collaborations with artists such as Danny Brown and Action Bronson. His second album, Skinny The Kid, was released in 2015 and included guest appearances by underground rappers including Open Mike Eagle and Aesop Rock.
In 2017, Bones signed with Columbia Records and released his third studio album All Skeletons Are Not Created Equal. This was followed by the 2018 release of his fourth album Disgraced Landlord which received critical acclaim from publications like Pitchfork and Rolling Stone Magazine. Bones continues to tour extensively throughout Europe and North America while performing at festivals such as Coachella and South by Southwest.
