Catherine Zeta-Jones CBE is a Welsh actress. Known for her versatility, she is the recipient of various accolades, including an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, and a Tony Award. In 2010, she was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire for her film and humanitarian work.
Catherine Zeta-Jones is an Academy Award-winning actress, born in Swansea, Wales on September 25th, 1969. She is the daughter of Patricia, a seamstress, and David Jones, a candy factory owner. She has two brothers, David and Lyndon. Catherine began her career at age 12 when she was cast in a Welsh television series called The Cinder Path. From there she went on to appear in several West End theater productions before moving to Hollywood in 1997.
Her first major role was portraying Elena Montero in the 1998 film The Mask of Zorro opposite Antonio Banderas. For this role, she won the 1999 Best Supporting Actress Academy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actress in a Supporting Role. She followed up her success with roles in Entrapment (1999), Traffic (2000) for which she earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie, Chicago (2002) which won her the Best Actress Golden Globe Award that year, and Ocean's Twelve (2004).
In 2000, Catherine married actor Michael Douglas and they have two children together: Dylan Michael Douglas (born August 8th 2000) and Carys Zeta Douglas (born April 20th 2003). In 2010, Catherine had to take time off from acting due to her diagnosis with bipolar II disorder but returned to work shortly after. Since then she has appeared in several films including Rock of Ages (2012), Red 2 (2013), Dad's Army (2016), and Feud: Bette and Joan (2017).
