William Frederick Durst is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, and director. He is the frontman and lyricist of the nu metal band Limp Bizkit, formed in 1994, with whom he has released seven studio albums. He appears as a secret playable character in the video games Fight Club, WWF Raw, and WWF SmackDown!
Fred Durst was born on August 20, 1970 in Gastonia, North Carolina. He is an American singer, songwriter, rapper and actor. His father left his family when he was 10 years old and Durst moved with his mother to Jacksonville, Florida, where he attended middle school and high school. During this time Durst began to develop an interest in music and started playing in various bands as a teenager.
In 1994, Durst founded the rap metal band Limp Bizkit with some friends from his hometown of Jacksonville. The group achieved mainstream success with their second album Significant Other (1999) which included hit singles such as “Nookie” and “Break Stuff”. After the release of the album Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water (2000), Limp Bizkit became one of the most successful nu metal bands of all time.
Durst has also pursued a solo career over the years, releasing his debut solo album The Education of Freddie Durst in 2004. He has also acted in several films including Population 436 (2006) and The Longshots (2008). In addition to his musical career, Durst has also been involved in philanthropy work through his charity organization From The Heart Productions.
