Holly Marie Combs Ryan is an American actress and producer. She is known for her roles as Kimberly Brock in the CBS series Picket Fences, Piper Halliwell in The WB series Charmed and Ella Montgomery in the Freeform series Pretty Little Liars.
Holly Marie Combs was born on December 3, 1973, in San Diego, California. She is the daughter of David Combs and Lauralei Combs. She attended Notre Dame High School and graduated in June 1991. Her parents divorced when she was very young and she moved to New York City with her mother.
Combs started her professional career at the age of 14 after being discovered by a casting agent while shopping for school clothes with her mother in New York City. After appearing in several television commercials, she made her film debut in the movie Sweet Hearts Dance (1988). She then starred in several television series such as Picket Fences (1992-1993), A Reason to Believe (1995) and Charmed (1998-2006).
Combs received critical acclaim for her performance as Piper Halliwell in Charmed and was nominated for numerous awards including four Teen Choice Awards and three Saturn Awards. In addition to acting, she has directed episodes of Charmed, Pretty Little Liars, Mistresses and The Originals.
In 2007, Combs married actor David Donoho and has three sons with him; Finley Arthur Donoho (born April 26, 2004), Riley Edward Donoho (born October 26, 2006) and Kelley James Donoho (born May 26, 2009). In 2011, she wrote her first book The Day I Shot Cupid which became a bestseller. In 2015 she launched Hollyweird Inc., an online store featuring vintage items from her personal collection.
