Katie Holmes was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 18th, 1978. She is an American actress, producer, and director. She is the youngest of five children, with three sisters and one brother. Her parents are Kathleen and Martin Holmes Sr. She attended All Saints Catholic School and Notre Dame Academy for her primary education before pursuing a career in acting.

Holmes began her acting career by appearing in a variety of commercials and small roles on television shows such as “Dawson’s Creek” (1998–2003) and “Go” (1999). She made her film debut in the slasher film “Disturbing Behavior” (1998), where her performance received critical acclaim. In 2000, she starred in the independent drama “The Gift” opposite Cate Blanchett and Keanu Reeves, for which she earned positive reviews from critics. Her other notable films include Christopher Nolan's “Batman Begins” (2005), Guy Ritchie's “Sherlock Holmes” (2009), and Doug Liman's “Jack Reacher” (2012).

In 2011, Holmes made her Broadway debut starring in a production of Arthur Miller's “All My Sons” alongside John Lithgow and Dianne Wiest. She has also appeared in several music videos including The Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris" (1998) and Puddle of Mudd's "Control" (2001). In addition to acting, Holmes has branched out into producing with projects like the 2019 adaptation of the novel “The Secret: Dare to Dream”.

Holmes is married to actor Jamie Foxx, who she met at a charity event in 2013. Together they have one daughter named Suri Cruise who was born on April 18th 2006 from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.
