Tyrese Darnell Gibson is an American actor and singer. He released his self-titled debut album in 1998, which featured the single "Sweet Lady", peaking at number twelve on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

Tyrese Darnell Gibson was born on December 30, 1978 in Watts, Los Angeles, California. He is the son of Tyrone and Priscilla Gibson. Growing up, Tyrese attended the Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnets School and later attended Florida A&M University where he studied Business Administration.
Tyrese began his music career singing background vocals for several R&B artists including Ginuwine before releasing his debut album, "Tyrese" in 1998. His second album, "2000 Watts", released in 2001 earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. In 2004, he released his third album entitled "I Wanna Go There" which featured two number one singles “How You Gonna Act Like That” and “Sweet Lady”. Tyrese has since released additional albums such as “Alter Ego” (2006), “Open Invitation” (2011) and “Black Rose” (2015).
In addition to being an acclaimed singer and songwriter, Tyrese has also appeared in several films including Baby Boy (2001), 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), Waist Deep (2006) and Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011). He has also authored three books – How to Get Out of Your Own Way (2012), Manology: Secrets of Your Man's Mind Revealed with Rev Run (2014) and Shut Up & Hold On (2015).
