Earvin "Magic" Johnson Jr., was born on August 14, 1959 in Lansing, Michigan. His Zodiac sign is Leo and his ethnicity is African-American. He was the son of Christine and Earvin Sr., who worked in a General Motors plant. He has three siblings: two sisters and one brother. 

    Magic's love for basketball started at an early age as he began to hone his skills on outdoor courts around his hometown. In high school, he led Everett High School to a state championship and was named Michigan's Mr. Basketball in 1977. After high school, he attended Michigan State University where he played college basketball under head coach Jud Heathcote. During his time there, the team won the 1979 NCAA Championship, with him being named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.

    In 1979, Magic entered the N.B.A Draft and was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers as first overall pick. During his 13-year career, Magic made nine All-Star appearances and was part of five championship teams (1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988). He also holds several records including most assists (9,921) and most steals (1,724). He was also voted N.B.A MVP three times (1987-88 seasons) and Finals MVP three times(1980-82 seasons). His jersey number 32 was retired by the Lakers organization in 1992 after he announced that he contracted HIV virus while having unprotected sex outside marriage which forced him to retire from professional basketball prematurely. 

    Following retirement from professional basketball career Magic founded the Magic Johnson Foundation which focuses on HIV/AIDS awareness education prevention & treatment services to urban communities throughout United States & South Africa .He also became a successful businessman with investments in beverages , movie theaters & restaurants .In 1994 ,he became partial owner of WNBA’s LA Sparks and in 2002 ,he purchased 4% share of LA Lakers .
