Philip David Charles Collins LVO is an English singer, musician, songwriter, record producer and actor. He was the drummer and lead singer of the rock band Genesis and also has a career as a solo performer. Between 1982 and 1990, Collins scored three UK and seven US number-one singles as a solo artist.

Phil Collins was born on January 30, 1951, in Chiswick, London, England. His zodiac sign is Aquarius and his ethnicity is British. He is the son of Winifred June Strange and Greville Philip Austin Collins, a civil engineer. Collins had an early start in music when he began playing drums at age five. At age 15, he joined a local band called The Real Thing and soon after left school to pursue a career in music.
In 1975, Genesis released their first album with Phil as lead singer and drummer, titled "A Trick of the Tail." The album went on to become a huge hit and propelled the group into stardom. After the success of the album, Genesis released several more albums with Phil as lead singer and drummer before taking a hiatus from recording in 1996.
During this time, Phil began pursuing a solo career and released his debut solo album "Face Value" in 1981 which became an international success. In 1985 he released his second studio album "No Jacket Required," which won him three Grammy Awards including Album of the Year.
Throughout his career Phil has had eight UK number one singles, six US number one singles, earned numerous awards such as seven Grammy Awards and an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “You’ll Be In My Heart” from Disney's Tarzan (1999).
He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 as part of Genesis and also received a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame in 2011. He has continued to tour internationally throughout his career with both his solo projects and with Genesis.
