He won the 2016 NBA Finals with the Cleveland Cavaliers and has also played in the NBA for the Boston Celtics, Sacramento Kings, and Indiana Pacers.

Tristan Trevor James Thompson was born on March 13, 1991, in Toronto, Canada. He is a professional basketball player who currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He attended St. Marguerite d'Youville Secondary School and then went to play college basketball at the University of Texas at Austin.

Thompson was selected by the Cavaliers with the fourth pick in the 2011 NBA draft. During his rookie season he started in 66 games and averaged 8.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. In 2013 he signed an extension with the team that made him one of the highest-paid players on the team.

In 2016 Thompson was part of Team Canada during their run to a gold medal at FIBA Americas Championship. That same year he also helped lead the Cavaliers to their first NBA championship in franchise history, where they defeated the Golden State Warriors 4–3 in the series.

Thompson played an important role for the Cavaliers again during their 2017 NBA Finals run, where they were eventually defeated 4–1 by the Warriors. He has been named an All-Star twice since joining Cleveland and continues to be one of their most important pieces moving forward into future seasons.
