Zachary Thomas LaVine is an American professional basketball player for the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association. He was selected in the first round of the 2014 NBA draft with the 13th overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Zachary LaVine was born on March 10, 1995, in Renton, Washington. His zodiac sign is Pisces and his ethnicity is African-American. He went to high school at Bothell High School in Bothell, Washington and he played basketball for the school's team.
LaVine declared for the 2014 NBA Draft after his freshman season at UCLA. He was selected 13th overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves and became the first player from the Seattle area to be drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft since Doug Christie in 1992. LaVine had a successful rookie year with the Timberwolves, being named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team and participating in both the Rising Stars Challenge and Slam Dunk Contest at All-Star Weekend.
In 2016–17, LaVine had a breakout season with averages of 18.9 points per game and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 44% from three-point range on nearly six attempts per game. He also became just the second player in NBA history (after Michael Jordan) to score 40 or more points multiple times before turning 21 years old. On June 22, 2017, LaVine was traded to the Chicago Bulls as part of a package deal involving Jimmy Butler.
The following season, LaVine returned from injury with career highs across many statistical categories including scoring (23.7 PPG), rebounds (4.7 RPG), assists (4.5 APG) and steals (1.0 SPG). On July 7th 2019, LaVine re-signed with the Bulls for four years worth $78 million dollars making him one of the highest paid players on their roster. Currently he is playing alongside teammates such as Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter Jr., Coby White, Otto Porter Jr., and Thaddeus Young while providing much needed leadership on an up-and-coming young Bulls team that looks to make some noise in future seasons in hopes of returning them back to their former glory days as one of the most storied franchises in all of professional sports history.
